Learning outcomes

Recent approaches and applications of biotechnology in the microbiological/medical field. To understand how the scientific research proceeds in the field of microbial biotechnology, to identify the problems and the strategies to reach adequate solutions

Survival strategies of bacteria and the stress response
Extremophile bacteria in Medicine: Helicobacter pylori
Biotechnological applications to Medicine: recombinant vaccini and nanomaterials in antibiotic resistance
MALDI-TOF: application in diagnostic Microbiology

Assessment methods and criteria

Only one exam, written exam with three open questions, each one corresponding to one of the modules constituting the course.
The critical evaluation of the informations received during the lessons will be considered more that the knowledgement of the specific items.
